Today's Gospel: John 20:19-31

In John's Gospel, chapter 20 highlights multiple key points. First and foremost is the emphasis on peace. We can rest knowing that Christ died for us out of His eternal love. Christ's first word that we know of following His death is "peace." And with this, it follows that He forgives our sins. How blessed are we! Often I cannot begin to fathom the understanding that my sins are forgiven. Like Thomas, I, too, struggle with doubt, and often wish I could have the concreteness of touching the nailmarks or His walking through doors in my midst. Yet it is clear in this passage that Jesus has given His apostles and their successors the ability to forgive sins. It is through God's grace we are to receive this message and know that we belong to His family. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed! Jesus, You are the Christ, the Son of God!

Ponder:

Do you recognize that you are forgiven for your wrong-doings if you allow Him to love you, that you are loved by Christ unconditionally?

Pray:

On this, Divine Mercy Sunday, may our hearts be forever ablaze with His most merciful love. Jesus, I trust in You!
