Today's Gospel: John 10:11-18

Today’s Gospel is so familiar to us that we may not really notice its richness and beauty. It is the perfect Gospel for today, which is also the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker. St. Joseph is a beautiful example of what we think of when we hear the words of the Good Shepherd.

Throughout his life, St. Joseph worked very hard for the well-being of the holy family and their safety. He was a wonderful example of how we should live our lives and stay close to God.

Today, God reminds us that regardless of our unfaithfulness and even our unbelief, He is still taking care of us and waiting for our time and love. Sadly, in today’s culture there are too many wolves to lead us away from our loving Father.

Money, our jobs, our selfishness, and much more lead us away from God. Regardless of what we know deep in our hearts and what the word of God says, we lose our way. It is unfortunate but true. Most of us know someone or have someone in our family who no longer believes that God loves them so they stop practicing their faith.

However, there are many who are churchgoers every Sunday but don’t believe in the Holy Eucharist. These realities hurt my heart, but can you imagine what they do to our Lord?

Perhaps, we can try to show the sheep that have lost their way the beauty of our faith. Let us try evangelizing by our deeds and the way we live our lives.

Ponder:

What can I do to share the beauty of being Catholic?

Pray:

Lord, please lead those who have fallen away from the Church, including those in my family, by softening their hearts. Help me to be an instrument for Your will.
