Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: John 6:35-40

Jesus speaks today about being the Bread of Life, saying that those who believe in Him will have eternal life — they will never hunger or thirst. But He also says that there are people present that day who have seen and still do not believe.

Those of us with adult children who have moved away from the Church have a hurt in our hearts that is difficult to heal, but Jesus speaks these beautiful words to us today:

"And this is the will of the one who sent me,
that I should not lose anything of what he gave me,
but that I should raise it on the last day."

In the end, our children must make a choice about the Faith for themselves. But God’s mercy is directed towards salvation, and He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. God will always pursue our children — the same way He pursued us in our own wayward years. Once our children have flown the nest, all we can do is pray for them to return and trust the words that Jesus speaks to us today. The will of God is that no one given to Jesus be lost on the Last Day. Let us all trust that God, in His infinite love for our children, will draw them to Himself.

Ponder:

Do you have children who are wandering from the Faith? Did you, when you were younger? Pray for those who are away from the Church and their families.

Pray:

Jesus, the Father does not will that anyone who was given to You is lost. Lead those who are fallen-away back to Your Church.
