Reflect on Jesus's unconditional love and how it inspires us to love others. Discover the beauty of selfless love in family and relationships.
Today's Gospel: John 15:12-17
Jesus tells us to love one another as He loves us. How does Jesus love us? He gives Himself totally to us. He gives everything to us, freely, without conditions, faithfully. When we love others as Jesus loves us, we become fruitful. That means that we bear good fruit; our love leads to good things and it makes us (and those we love) better.
No one understands this better than husbands and wives, and parents. How many times did we stay up late or stop doing whatever we were doing to be with our beloved? How many sacrifices did our parents make so we could have the insignificant things that we wanted? What sacrifices did your parents make so that you could go to college? How many nights did we stay up with a sick child? We do these things not to be successful parents or to have a successful marriage; we do these things because we love. Sometimes it’s hard; sometimes it feels like sacrifice. But we don’t call it sacrifice. We call it love.
Ponder:
Think back through your life and see how God has been present, no matter what, loving you in your life.
Pray:
Thank You, Lord for loving me. You love me as if I were the only one in the world, as if I were Your one beloved. Thank You for Your love. Help me to love others as You love me. Help me to love my husband/wife/children as You love me. Help me to love (N.) as you love me. Always. Especially when it’s difficult. And help me love You. Don’t let me ever forget Your love.
Pray Together:
Each day do something loving for someone in your family. They don’t even need to know about it. Give something up that you want or want to do, so that someone else can have something they want or want to do.
