Explore the call to make disciples of all nations and the importance of sharing our faith within the global Catholic community. Join the journey of evangelization.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 28:16-20

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19
Although these words were directed toward Jesus's eleven disciples, we can be certain that they were meant for all followers, including each of us. It is a commandment and calling, and it can seem daunting at times. Following Jesus is not easy, but we can be comforted to know that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are always with us. It is also comforting and inspiring to think about the millions that have come before us following the same calling, making our Church truly universal and worldwide. Billions of Catholics over the course of 2,000 years have made our Church something we share together. We are not alone spiritually, or even humanly.

Our children need to know how special the Catholic Church is, from their own parish to the thousands around the world. I’ve traveled around the world always seeking out a local parish. There is always a warm welcome, and as I sit through Mass, it’s a joy to know that there are so many others celebrating together. I must also think that my presence feels the same to my brothers and sisters.

Jesus knew that the disciples could not do this alone, and He gave them eachother to “make disciples of all nations.” And like those first eleven, we are not alone. Our Church now spans the globe, but there are so many places still in need. That’s why I think it is so wonderful and exciting to think about the work that is being done around the world. One thing I think we can all do is talk about this work and make it more visible.

Ponder:

How can we learn more about the work of evangelization being done around the world and share that as a small way of inspiring others to become disciples?

Pray:

I pray today for all those who work to make disciples of all nations, especially those working on the margins. Let us be inspired to do the same in our own lives.

Pray Together:

Take the time to research organizations such as Holy Cross Family Ministries and its international work with families, then share that with your own family. They are not alone!
