Learn to shift from panic to peace in family challenges through faith.* --- ***Today's Gospel: [Matthew 8:23-27](https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/063026)*** The Calming of the Storm at Sea is one of the most moving stories in the Gospels. We’ve all encountered scenarios that make this scene accessible—times in our lives when we have felt scared, abandoned, or panicked. Matthew highlights that the storm was sudden. It came out of nowhere, leaving no time for preparation or planning. I find that striking because we live in a culture obsessed with planning. I am guilty of it too—I like to know what will be expected of me, for how long, and under what circumstances. But life doesn’t always give us that luxury. Sometimes the only thing life gives us time to do is trust. At its core, this Gospel is about two things: our faith and Jesus’s authority. We must be prepared to place our trust in Him, confident that even the winds and the sea obey His command. Yet I also see in this passage an invitation to form a reflex of the heart. How many of us believe, yet still allow ourselves to panic? How many of us know His power, yet still treat every disruption as a crisis? As parents and families, we are called to practice this reflex daily. Children bring sudden storms—tantrums, illnesses unexpected needs—and family life rarely unfolds according to plan. But instead of reacting with fear, we can pause and pray, “Lord, save us!” That simple cry, made in faith, invites Christ into our storm and creates space for His peace. It’s time we train our reflexes so that instead of panic, our first response becomes calm trust in the Lord who never forsakes us.   ## Ponder: Lord, in the storms of my family life, am I turning to You first or to my own panic?   ## Pray: Lord Jesus, when sudden storms shake our lives, help us turn to You first. Calm our fears, deepen our trust, and bring peace to our families.   ## Pray Together: As a family, decide on a short prayer to use in the chaotic moments.
