Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 9:18-26

The official and the hemorrhaging woman in this Gospel are desperate. They've likely exhausted every avenue in their search for healing. Jesus may be their last, best hope, and they go to Him with complete confidence in His ability to cure. Because of their faith, Jesus cures the woman, and the official's daughter.

The Gospels don't record those of faith who are not cured of their ailments. Surely there were those then, as now, who had faith yet were not cured. Why, often remains a mystery to us, but we do see in this passage that cures serve a wider purpose as "news of this spread about through all the land."

Suffering is often isolating, but just as healing can serve the larger Church, so can suffering. And so when others are suffering, we must offer aid and comfort. So, too, should we allow others to serve us when we are suffering - sometimes the more difficult task!

Ponder:

How can I serve those closest to me in their suffering? How, in humility, can I better accept help and consolation from others when I am the one suffering?

Pray:

Lord, let me help bring consolation and healing to others in their suffering. Help me to graciously accept the help of others when I am the one in need.
