Today's Gospel: Luke 11:29-32

Jesus says some harsh words to the people, calling them an evil generation because they were looking for extraordinary signs and were not willing to have faith in His words. Jesus gives two examples of great faith: from the Ninevites, who believed in the words of Jonah and repented from their sins and from the queen of the south, who believed in the words of Solomon, and converted.

People were looking for a show, not for a way to find God and live according to His will. Jesus is calling us today to have faith in Him, Who is the way, and the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and to do our best to live according to this faith. Sometimes we tend to ask for a sign, especially when we are facing hard times and get frustrated if nothing extraordinary happens. But God is trying to reach out to us every day, through small signs, through people who meet us, who help us, who need us or though nature, a sunshine, a rainbow, some rain. Even the traffic can be a way for Him to teach us to have patience!

Everything that happens in our ordinary life is put there by our loving Father, who is trying to catch our attention so we'll look further, look to Heaven, where He wants to spend eternity with us, in an endless love. What we need to do is to repent from our wrongs, make a good confession often, and look for God in our life, trying our best to give back to Him all the love He shows to us.

Ponder:

How did God show His love for you this week?

Pray:

Lord Jesus, help me always have faith in Your words and to experience how deep Your love is for me, so I can love You back with all my heart.
