Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 20:7-38

The last line is where I draw breath rather sharply.

“He is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.” (Luke 20:38).

As long as we are with God, we are alive. Are you with God? Clearly, you are not physically in His presence in heaven, but are you with Him in your soul? Do you go to Him not only in prayer but in your everyday tasks, do you pause and ask for help, saying, “God, what now, please give me the words; show me the way to figure this out?” Are you with Him?

For years I spent lots of time bemoaning not being able to spend enough time with God because I had other duties to deal with/ Going to work to earn money to care for my family, cooking, cleaning, all the things we do in life. I finally learned to invite God into all of the messiness and confusion and best-laid plans turned upside down. And I grew closer to Him. Did I crave quiet time with Him? Yes. But when only five minutes were possible, I stopped feeling like I was failing and brought Him with me into my life. He is the God of the living. And what is more alive than family?

My life is different now. I now have hours I can spend alone with God. It is often so incredibly quiet. In my mind and soul though, I am still having conversations with God like I did when life was more hectic. It is a good habit. It helps me, so I keep it. Are you with God?

Ponder:

How can you invite God into your daily life apart from prayer or quiet time with Him?

Pray:

Father God, you are the God of the living. Be with in my life as I do my best to live for and with You.
