Today's Gospel: Luke 17:7-10

Who wants to be great in God's Kingdom?

Moms, do you ever feel like you are the servant of all? I used to say, "A mom's middle name is Sacrifice."

I will never forget my conversation with my daughter when she became a mother of three. She said, "Mom, I clean up the house, and then the children mess it up again.” I sent a smile her way. She knew I had been there a time or two.

I said, “Honey, that is in the job description. A mom’s life is a daily sacrifice out of love for your children.”

“Mom, that is why I take them on outings, so my house is still clean when I come home,” she added.

This is part of the story where I broke into song, singing, “Do you know, O Christian, you are a servant in shoes?”  Only I,  however, was enjoying the solo!

Moms, you may feel defeated sometimes. A mom’s life is not glamorous. There are no coffee breaks, paychecks, or even a pink slip. No one thanks you for cleaning the bathroom, picking up the toys, or making dinner. It is one of the most challenging jobs you will ever do, but it is the most important. We are forming the next generation. The vocation you have chosen is a calling by God. Your children are His gifts to you to serve, form, and love.

We are servants of our Savior, and each act done for Christ brings great joy. So put on your apron of humility and serve your children with gladness. You were born to be great in God's Kingdom.

Ponder:

Moms, what do you do when you feel defeated?

Pray:

Dear Jesus, thank You for the gift of motherhood. May I always serve, form, and love my family as unto You. Without Your grace, I cannot do the job at all!
