Explore the profound love of the Trinity in today's Gospel reflection. Learn how to recognize and reflect God's love in your life and during Mass.

Today's Gospel: John 14:21-26

In today’s Gospel, Jesus describes the love and relationship of the Trinity. This passage of love is simple and comforting. We follow the laws of God in order to best show our love for Him, God loves us in return, and the cycle continues into eternity.

Jesus assures His disciples that even when He is no longer walking on earth with them in a human way, the Father will send the Holy Spirit to guide their path and teach them what they should know. The love and care for creation reflects the love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit within the Trinity.

The Trinity itself is an endless cycle of love. God is love, and this is only possible with the Trinity. God’s love flows within the Trinity to such a degree that God the Father was compelled to create for the sake of that love, and He loves His creation.

We can experience the love of the Trinity every Sunday in Mass. In the Holy Mass, God sanctifies us and we worship (and love) God in a continuous cycle of giving and receiving. All three persons of the Trinity are acting in the Holy Mass as the Father offers the sacrifice of His Son through the Holy Spirit.

Ponder:

Where have you seen each person of the Trinity working in your life?

Pray:

Father, Your love for the Son and the Holy Spirit overflows into Your love and care for us, Your creation. Help us to recognize Your love and reflect it back to You each day.

Pray Together:

Pay extra attention at Mass to the actions of the persons of the Trinity. Reflect on the ways you can see the Trinity working independently and together throughout the liturgy.
