Advent begins Sunday, Dec 1.

This is a special time to begin sweeping out your heart – your interior stable -  in preparation of making your soul a worthy dwelling place for Jesus coming in Holy Communion and for the reception of His grace which prepares us for His final coming. It’s a time for recollection, examination and healing available to us in the sacrament of Reconcilliation as we prepare to celebrate the anniversary of the Lord's coming into the world.

Preparing for the holidays can be cause of real distress and distraction from the true purpose of this liturgical season. Maintaining a healthy, prayerful focus and avoiding commercial Christmas chaos -  which can result in unsecured consumer debt that follows you to eternity -  is easy if you do some responsible shopping on your laptop.

Christmas is also a time to generously share the gift of our faith. Books and CD’s are terrific and affordable stocking stuffers. I’d like to recommend these inspired and inspirational selections for your consideration. Click on the blue text to learn more about a person, review or directly purchase a product.

LLF_gLoved, Lost, Found: 17 Divine Mercy Conversions by Felix Carrol

Loved, Lost, Found is a collection of beautiful stories of everyday people who discover God's extraordinary mercy. They include a former abortionist, a blind man, an unfaithful husband, a former cult member, a rape victim, a prisoner, a former "workaholic," and a survivor of the "Miracle on the Hudson" plane crash, among others. The book begins with a story about Maureen Digan, whose miraculous healing in 1981 led to the beatification of Sr. Maria Faustina Kowalska. Now recognized as a saint, this nun's revelations in the 1930s, known today as the message of Divine Mercy, play a major role in each one of the conversion stories in this collection. Through St. Faustina, Jesus reiterates for our times the Gospel message that He is Love and Mercy itself, calling us to turn to Him in trust, receive His mercy, and extend His mercy to others.
