Catholic Techie Rob Kaczmark

You've heard of Rob Kaczmark, though you probably don't know Rob's the one behind it. Three words: Spirit Juice Studios. According to the about page:

Rob decided to play matchmaker and introduced good quality media to the Catholic Church. They hit it off right away and years later, Spirit Juice Studios is still here. He also needed an excuse to buy really expensive cameras.

I can only nod and...nod. What's not to love about Rob Kaczmark?

Well, given that we all love a good romance story, how about THIS: Rob met his fiance on CatholicMatch and their story is the stuff of "oooohs" and "ahhhhhs." It's also a beautiful website.

Rob was kind enough to take some time to share his Catholic Techie perspective with us, so here goes:

Tell us about yourself in five words or less.

Beads. Bees? BEADS! BEADS?!

Of your pursuits, what's your favorite?

Following the pursuit of God and my ever deepening love of my fiancé, constantly pushing myself creatively is my favorite pursuit. I never went to film school or had any formal training. I feel like this has pushed me to constantly learn and continue to hone my craft. When I look back and work I did 5 years ago, I realize how far I have come. And when I look at other peoples work that inspires me I realize how far I still need to go. I hope that every year I'm able to look back at the previous year and think, "I can do better!"

When you think of the New Evangelization from your approach as a "Catholic Techie," what excites you? What makes you want to continue?

The constantly improving camera technologies always amaze me. That God has given certain people that gift and talent to create those tools - and that we can use these tools to spread his word - is a constant sign of his love for us and his presence in this world. Cameras are tools that can be used for building and repairing, and I feel it is my job to help repair Catholic art and media - two aspects of our faith that are often overlooked.

What's the most rewarding aspect of your work?

The moment when I see the first rough cut of a project is the most rewarding aspect of my work. There is still a lot more to do, but it is at that point where all the hard work we have put into a project finally shows signs of beauty. It is at that point where we can truly see its real potential.

In your spare time, what are we likely to find you doing? Do you have a gadget in hand or do you go native and screenless?

If I have spare time I like to be active, which can include long boarding, unicycling, bmx, mountain biking... (I keep telling myself I really need to make more time to play video games).

I am also a huge fan of going out to the movies with my fiancé and/or staying in and catching up on the Walking Dead or Game of Thrones while we eat from our favorite Mexican restaurant.
