Here are five quotes from holy people who did their own housework and survived long enough to share a holy approach towards the things in life that just have to get done – whether we like it or not. ***“*Know that even when you are in the kitchen, our Lord moves amidst the pots and pans*.**” ~ *St. Teresa of Avila** **“Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world.” ~ St. Paul to the Philippians 2: 14-15** **“People who hire all these things done for them never know what they lose, for the homeliest tasks get beautified if loving hands do them.” ~ Louisa May Alcott in *Little Women*** **"The best way to acquire true dignity is to wash one's own clothes and boil one's own pot." ~ St. Francis Xavier** **"A servant is not holy if she is not busy; lazy people…is fake holiness." ~ St. Zita** Print these out, write them on post-it notes, pin them to you bulletin or Pinterest boards. Think about these wise words when it’s time to put in another load of laundry, wash the dishes for the umpteenth time, mop the floors even though they’ll just get dirty again, or clean the sticky orange juice on the bottom of your fridge from when your lovely child decided to put his unfinished cup right on the very edge of the fridge shelf. Look at these messes and these household “chores” not as drudgery but as *opportunities to grow deeper in love with Christ. * *Copyright 2014 Erika Marie* ### Share this article [![Share on Facebook](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/facebook-24x24.png)](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2014%2F02%2F17%2Ffive-saintly-quotes-for-housework-motivation%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dfacebook) [![Share on Twitter](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/twitter-24x24.png)](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2014%2F02%2F17%2Ffive-saintly-quotes-for-housework-motivation%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2014%2F02%2F17%2Ffive-saintly-quotes-for-housework-motivation%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&source=tweetbutton&text=Five%20Saintly%20Quotes%20for%20Housework%20Motivation) [![Share on Email](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/email-24x24.png)](mailto:?subject=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2014%2F02%2F17%2Ffive-saintly-quotes-for-housework-motivation%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail%20&body=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2014%2F02%2F17%2Ffive-saintly-quotes-for-housework-motivation%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail) ** #### About the Author ![Erika Marie](https://www.catholicmom.com/hubfs/_catholicmom/Contriubutors/ANNEMARIE%20MILLER.jpeg) ### [Erika Marie](https://www.catholicmom.com/articles/author/erika-marie) Erika Marie is a simple Catholic, Wife, and Mama.
