Today's Gospel: Matthew 16:13-19

“But what about you?” Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say I am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.”

Faith. So often we take our faith for granted.

My Pastor always begins Mass thanking God for our parents and grandparents who handed on the faith to us. The seed is planted and when we respond, the vine grows.

What a blessing our faith is. I feel such compassion for those who do not know the love of God. They live their lives as if all depends on them and their actions, while we who believe, know in every fiber of our beings that the living God has called us, has a plan for us.

I can look back and see that God has been calling me since I was a young child. I thank God for my faith and knowledge that Jesus is the way, the truth and the light. We have come to know, just as Peter, that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. By every thought, word, and deed we tell the world of our belief.

A life lived in that belief is a changed life, my faith only grows stronger. Every tiny step in His direction and I am met by my Savoir. He holds me up, he protects me, he leadeth me beside still waters. Nourish your faith, look to Him who saves and it will grow as the vine. Jesus is the answer.

Ponder:

Ponder: Think of how your faith has grown, look at your journey thus far. The Lord is leading you to a deeper faith so that he can use you to heal the world.

Pray:

Prayer: Jesus, I believe in you, strengthen my faith, root it within me, keep me ever close to you all the days of my life. You are my Lord forever. I love you.
