Daily Gospel Reflection for March 23, 2014

Today's Gospel: John4:5-42

“You worship what you do not understand.” The Samaritans and the Jews both worshiped the same God and shared the same patriarchs.

However, when the Samaritan woman pointed out to this Jewish stranger the ancient argument that divided them from the Jews, Jesus was bold in telling her that Samaritans worshipped what they did not understand. Salvation is from the Jews.

Today there are Christians who love the same God as we do, but they worship what they do not understand. We cannot live without the supernatural water that gives our souls everlasting life. This is the Eucharist. Christ has a deep thirst that all men know this and worship in Spirit and in truth.

Ponder:

Do I take advantage of daily mass when it’s available to me?

Pray:

Dear Lord, help us to repent of the times we put You aside and give us the grace to come to living fount.
