I have not completely lost my mind reporting on a DAILY Lenten reflection app as we enter into Holy Week.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan is one of my absolutely favorite teachers of the faith. His joy is contagious, his teachings succinct and easy for my simple mind to grasp. My favorite feature of this app is the messages are relayed in video form. I am a homeschool mom; sometimes it is nice not to have to read.

Each video is short, entertaining, and super instructional. Although I set the handy reminder, I have not been able to watch each one, and it was that fact that leads me to this idea to share the app so late in the Lenten game.

Lent is wonderful, as odd as that may sound, and I am a huge fan. The abundant graces, the solidarity of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, and the joyful hope and waiting for Easter.

If there is a disappointing aspect of Easter, it is that, after the ham is eaten and our Sunday bonnets are put away, most people return to their regularly scheduled programs.

While we absolutely need to rejoice and celebrate the Easter season, when that has finished, and we return to “Ordinary” time, we should not take that as a license to forget the faith building disciplines of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

Hence my sharing 40 Days of Reflections here at the end of Lent – to encourage you to download it, and enter a new season of reflection either during the days of the Easter season or during our ordinary time (although any life lived with Christ in the center is never ordinary!).

The Daily Lenten Reflections app is free, and all 40 reflections are downloaded with the App. As I mentioned there is a handy-dandy notification reminder you can set, if you would like help in creating a new prayer habit, or like me, just a busy mom that has everything written down or set to an alarm!

“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary” Gal 6:9

In this instance, let us not tire of doing what is spiritually good for us.  Let us continue to seek ways to spend time reflecting and learning the amazing Catholic faith we profess and love long after we are able to eat chocolate again!
