He hopped from one open laced hiking booted foot to the other in anticipation of what he was to receive.  Moving as quickly as he could, he fairly pushed the woman in front to get to the priest, just as he reached out his hand to receive, like a silent ninja, his mom swooped in and dragged him away, explaining that he had not made his Holy Communion yet and could not take the Eucharist. His crestfallen expression betrayed his heartbreak.  As he was pulled away, almost in tears he looked back longingly at the host he had come so close to attaining. It was a great moment and I laughed at his audacity, but at the same time I thought, that should be me.
