Today's Gospel: Matthew 12:38-42

How often do we test our God? We find ourselves asking for a sign. We open the Bible and point to a passage thinking it will provide the answers to our problems. We plead, “God, if you just do me this one favor, I promise to…” We may take unnecessary risks in our lives assuming that God will provide.

There isn’t anything inherently wrong with relying on the Lord in difficult situations in our life. In fact, it is what God calls us to do. But, it is in our intentions where the problems may lie.

Do we ask things of the Lord out of doubt or out of faith? Do we not remember that all good comes from God and all of His works are perfect? Do we think that you know better than the Lord? If so, you are testing God. Put your trust in Him instead.

Ponder:

When you pray, do you pray with the intentions of persuading God or changing His mind, or do you pray for a change in your own heart?

Pray:

Lord, change my mind. Help me to realize that all You do is good. Help me see You in every moment today.
