Today, I bring you none other than The Man behind the bit of internet awesomeness known as CatholicApps.com. Tom Lelyo started it a few years ago, and remains committed to not only reviewing new apps, but to letting us all know about the good stuff (Catholic and not) that's out there. His hope with the site, he says, is "that this site connects end users and developers to bring about more Catholic app awesomeness!"
Tom graduated from DeSales University with not one but TWO degrees (Theology and Philosophy) and then jumped into both marriage and full-time youth ministry. Now he has three kids and a website in addition.
He's the kind of guy who I imagine doesn't need caffeine, because he seems to have enough energy already. (Then again, maybe he has a special kind of caffeine...) So let's meet him, shall we?
Tell us about yourself in five words or less.
Husband, Father, Youth Minister, Catholic.
Of your pursuits, what's your favorite?
Pursuing the New Evangelization through technology.
When you think of the New Evangelization from your approach as a "Catholic Techie," what excites you? What makes you want to continue?
What excites me is the accessibility of so many tools that can help spread the Gospel. I'm constantly striving to find new ways to get access to good resources and find new ways to approach the faith and go deeper.
In your spare time, what are we likely to find you doing? Do you have a gadget in hand or do you go native and screenless?
Spare time doesn't exist for a father of three with one on the way! When I do steal away, I like to exercise: soccer, frisbee, swimming, running, or biking. Usually my iPhone accompanies me while running my favorite app RunKeeper.
