sunshower

Depending on what part of the country you live in you may have a different word or no word at all for what I am talking about.*  A sunshower is rain and sun at the same time.  I love sunshowers and in South Florida, the land of riotous rain storms, we have them.  We had them in New York too.  I love them, did I mention that?

They give me hope and remind me that God can do anything.  If sun can shine while rain comes down challenges can be overcome, there can be joy though trials and peace in the midst of turmoil.

This summer was a summer of challenges, trials and turmoil in regard to serious health issues for my husband.  The sunshower pictured was about two months after it all began and he was finally beginning to feel more like himself and less like a patient.  I saw it on my way to work and thought: yes, we have sun and rain, good and bad, both are necessary and we are still here, striving to heal and move forward.  I kept driving and then, as I turned to the left I saw a blue, sun filled sky with a few puffy clouds.

And that was my reminder of the hope and joy and peace we have in our Father and in Christ Jesus.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  (Romans 15:13) This is my prayer for as we continue on this journey to health.

What do you see in our natural world that reminds you of God in a specific way?
