Today's Gospel: Luke 12:35-38
Jesus loves to use metaphors for the Kingdom of Heaven. In this particular reading, He gives us one specific task: Be Ready.
We have all heard the idea that we know not the hour, but do we take that seriously? Do we live as though tonight could be the end? It could be. Or, do we make plans for our faith life as if we have years upon years to get it right? Are we putting off a relationship with God for a time when “things slow down?”
If God called your name today, would you be ready? Is your soul in a state of grace?
Lord, show me where my faith is weakest. Open my eyes to new ways to strengthen my resolve to live eternally with You. Give me the motivation and time to be with You now. Instill in me distaste for anything that distracts me from keeping vigil.
