Today's Gospel: Luke 19: 41-44
Jesus wept over Jerusalem. We know of one other time he wept: when Lazarus died. But why over Jerusalem? Why was he overcome with such sorrow? Did he weep because he was about to be rejected and betrayed? Does Jesus weep for us today when we reject his teachings? When we fail to love each other? When we doubt his love for us?
I cannot bear to think that I could be a cause of his weeping. There was a time in my life when I did not pray much or go to church. I did not know what makes for peace. When I had a conversion and became Catholic, my whole life changed.
Jesus changed it. If we know Jesus, then we know peace.
Why do you think Jesus wept? How can we help bring peace to our family? To our neighbors?
Lord, help me bring peace to others. Help me to remember that you are our source of peace. Amen.
