En busca de la serenidad (In search of serenity)

Pasé la tarde caminando por los terrenos de un monasterio cerca de mi casa. Me gusta la serenidad que forma parte de todo lo que rodea el campo.

Me encontré con unos gansos que rompieron el silencio, pero en vez de acusarme por la interrupción, fue como una invitación a compartir su lago conmigo. Cuando vieron que no les traje comida, me dejaron tranquila, y ellos siguieron en lo suyo.

Descansé en la orilla, y pasé el tiempo en oración.

Necesito buscar estas oportunidades más a menudo. Siempre tengo una lista de cosas que requieren mi atención. Le presto mas atención a esa lista que a lo que de verdad merece mi tiempo. Este retiro espontáneo me animó el espíritu y demostró mi necesidad de descansar en la presencia de Dios.

I recently spent the afternoon walking around the grounds of a monastery near my home. I love the serenity I find in those fields.

I ran across some geese that broke the silence with their loud cacophony, but instead of feeling like I had interrupted them, it was more like an invitation to join them. Of course, they soon discovered I had no food, so they left me alone to my own devices.

The silence was perfect for some prayer time.

I should seek these opportunities for silence and prayer more often. I always have a pressing list of things to do, and I realize that too often I set aside the things I ought to do for that busy list.

This spontaneous retreat, in the midst of my busy-ness, refreshed me and gently showed me my need to rest a while in God's presence.
