Daily Gospel Reflection for February 17, 2015

Today's Gospel: Mark 8:14-21

Sometimes we have to wonder if Christ gets tired of our blindness. But He is God, so likely He is continually understanding. Even after Jesus produced bread for the multitudes twice, with more than plenty left over, His apostles still worry about their lack of bread when He makes a point using leaven as the example. Food for their bodies was not the focus, rather, food for their souls and where it comes from. Just as Christ warned the apostles not to look for their needs of body and soul to be met by the false teachers and the government, He still reminds us that there is only one direction to look for our needs. That direction is always towards Him. As hard as it may be, we have to learn to trust in Him for today's needs; those of mind, body and soul. And when we do, He will meet those needs over and above what we ever thought possible.

Ponder:

Do I really trust that God is God and I am not? Do I really believe that He's got this? What is one thing I can really turn over to God today and trust that He will take care of it?

Pray:

Preserve me, Oh God, for in you I take refuge. I say to The Lord, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you." (Psalms 16:1-2)
