2535 Apparel launches a new line of premium Catholic clothing for the whole family and donates 100% of the proceeds to help the poor in third world countries.
Just in time for the holiday season, 2535 Apparel launches an entirely new approach to Catholic Christian clothing. “This project has been a dream of ours for a long time and we are so excited to be able to finally share it with others. We want to encourage people to be bold in our faith and in order to do that, we want to offer them something that they will absolutely love to wear everywhere they go”, says Joshua Johns, one of the founders of the startup clothing line.
Their website explains their approach in taking a super soft, ‘fashion fit’ garment and matching it with a “bold and beautiful photo-graphic.” The designs are taken from the Sacred Scriptures and are hand crafted with original photography, captured from their travels around the world, to create impressive artwork. The shirts feature 100% ring-spun cotton and offer separate styles for men, women and youth for a superior fit (think mall-like garments). They also offer a line of higher-end hoodies for adults and children alike.
“I looked for something that was a nice, comfortable shirt, with a Catholic design, that would be unique and beautiful. Something that I would be excited to wear. I was never able to find something like this on the market, maybe it exists somewhere, but I never found it. So I wanted to be apart of the initiative that created it to share with our community and the world,” says Johns, a native of Indiana whose background is in graphic design.
All of the company’s profits go to helping those in need. The website states, “We are a small group of multi-lingual caregivers, full-time volunteers & creative artists. We fund ourselves and volunteer with various foundations, abbeys, parishes, governments and aid groups around the globe, both large and small. We travel to remote and desperate areas where there is extreme poverty and often, armed conflict. We teach in orphanages, help prisoners with social reinsertion and personal development, keep company with the elderly who have been abandoned, and support and help the poor in a number of ways.”
The company's name is taken from Jesus’ words in Saint Matthew 25:35 and is printed on the back of every tag “...I was hungry… I was thirsty… I was naked… I was in prison... I was sick... Whatever you did for these brothers of mine, even the least of them, you did for Me..”.
“We’ve gotten such great response from people, it’s amazing! Especially at the Pope’s visit in Philadelphia where we ‘test-launched’. A lady walked up and bought 6 of our main design “Thy Kingdom Come” for everyone she knew, then later, ordered more from the website. It’s really exciting to see people love something we have put so much time and heart into. Especially families and kids. I read a stat somewhere that 3,000 people read a shirt in it’s lifetime. That’s a lot of “Our Father’s” if they finish the prayer from our main design. We love it when people buy them as a gift; it’s like a multiple gift, the person who gets to give it, the person who receives the shirt, all the people who will read the shirt and then the poor who receive from the work on the other side of the world, everyone shares in the gift”, says Joshua.
The online store is clean and easy to navigate. And while it’s clearly new, there are already plenty of designs and styles to choose from. For the holiday season, 2535 Apparel is offering a coupon with this press release for free standard shipping on your entire purchase (for domestic customers) with the code: REMEMBERTHEPOOR
