MSMU Statue of Mary that Stands 100 Feet in Air - Gets Crowned
National Shrine Grotto Celebrates Mary
WHAT: The Grotto’s May Crowning of Mary - The golden 25-foot statue of Mary which sits atop the 95-foot campanile and stands high above the Mount St. Mary’s University campus at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto will be crowned with flowers. The crown measures 12 feet in diameter will be raised by crane and placed upon the statue’s head.
This epic event celebrates the Catholic tradition of crowning Blessed Mother Mary in the month of May with spring blossoms to recognize her model of faith and discipleship.
WHEN: May 1 after the 12:00 p.m. mass at 1:00 p.m.
