I never thought of myself as a soldier but for the past year I have been in the Legion Of Mary. Over a year ago, I attended a conference for catechists in my area. Many vendors and organizations are there, sharing their goodies or information. As I was walking around, a beautiful statue of Our Lady caught my eye. I walked over to the booth and learned all about this wonderful organization.

Of course, as a mom, teacher of four-year-olds, and catechist I wasn’t sure if I would be able to join. To my surprise, I found out that I could be an auxiliary member by praying the rosary every day and the Tessera, a special Marian prayer for the Legion.

I was very happy. I already prayed the rosary mostly every day and this would keep my momentum going. I would be praying for other Legionaries all around the world and also those who have passed away. I decided to give it a try.

I was a probationary member for three months and became official in March of 2015! It has been a wonderful journey. I truly feel that I am helping our blessed Mother stomp on that serpent’s head. There is so much anger and hatred in the world that we need to fight for peace and love.

I truly understand now what Padre Pio meant when he called the rosary his weapon. I believe that it is. It has changed my spiritual life. It has helped me feel courage when I was most afraid.

So, if you want to be in Mother Mary’s Army, the Legion of Mary might be for you. Almost every parish has one.
