You Are NOT Bob The Builder

"Can we build it? Yes we can!"---Bob the Builder.

Many of you reading this have experienced an episode of Bob the Builder. No task or construction project is unconquerable with Bob the Builder on the scene. When Bob gets everyone together, projects are completed and everyone goes home happy at the end of the work day. You may be wondering why I am talking about Bob the Builder.....

You are NOT Bob the Builder.

I hope I did not shatter your dreams of scaling buildings like Spider-Man and piecing together buildings with as few nails as possible. If I did, then I am truly sorry. However, I bring the character known as "Bob the Builder" to your attention because you are not him and neither am I. Bob the Builder is able to fix anything and create something out of nothing in regards to resolving problems.

God is a creator. In fact, he is The Creator.

God wants us to create too. While Bob the Builder can fix anything (not reality), we as God's people are all uniquely gifted. We NEED to create something, somehow, somewhere. Music, art, writing---are just a few examples of ways that we are able to create. Take a look at the people in your life who are the most alive! They are not just going through the motions of life; their life does not look the same now as it did 10 years ago. They are always creating!

It is always shocking to me how many people abandon their hearts. They abandon the activities that bring them life as they attempt to tackle life. People get busy doing stuff and they forget about the activities that brought them joy in the first place. This is very easy to do when you are first married or begin to have children. All of our attention can easily be focused on building the perfect family and life; however, this is where we have strayed off course---no one is perfect!

In Proverbs, it is noted that the heart is the wellspring of life. We draw life (or death) from our hearts. Many love songs and movies talk about the heart and love but nothing is as spot-on as the portrayals of love that Christ has for us. Christ loves us as we are; our past is wiped clean like a dry-erase board. People will remind us of our failures; Christ will remind us of our potential. We are not Bob the Builder because each of us are given specific desires and hopes that are unique to us.

How will you show God's goodness in your hobby?

Your heart was designed by God. He knows the answers to the questions listed above. He knows that we need continually renewed by Him. We search for peace in this world and we find frustration and temporary joy.

Give your heart to God. He will restore the activities that bring you life.

Say yes!
