A key difference between a farmer who can eke out a living and a farmer who can make a decent living that supports their family is education. Education empowers people. These Nigerian women are among thousands of farmers who want to read and write so they can better access financial resources, new technologies and products to improve their harvests, like fertilizer and disease-resistant crops. In Nigeria, one of the most populated countries in Africa, an estimated 4.7 million children of elementary school age are still not in school.
