Today's Gospel: John 6:1-15

How often we feel that we don’t have enough - enough time, enough money, enough energy to go around. Our finite resources seem to tie our hands and prevent us from doing the things that we want or need to do. But known limitations are never the way of God. Too many people? No problem. Great hunger? Prepare to be filled. Doubting hearts? He alone can provide. In the moment when we seem to be facing the insurmountable, Jesus not only offers a solution but gives in great abundance.

Today is the feast day of St. Gianna Beretta Molla. She knew great struggles in her life, but she is also a great witness of the provision of God in the midst of those difficulties. Her faithful service as a doctor, beautiful example as a wife, and heroic sacrifice as a mother give all of us an example to follow during times we have to trust God to provide. St. Gianna knew that nothing about her life would be wasted. Like the young boy in today’s Gospel who offers his five loaves and two fish, may we give freely of what we have and trust Jesus with the rest.

Ponder:

What are the five loaves and two fish that you can offer Jesus?

Pray:

My Jesus, take what I have and use it for your Kingdom. Help me to rely on You, for You are always enough.
