"Finding more than my wallet" by Elizabeth Estrada (CatholicMom.com) Photo via Pixabay (2015), CC0 Public Domain[/caption] It's been a crazy, overwhelming couple of months for me. As many of you are, I am a mom and had to tackle the beginning of the school year and all the challenges that go along with it. As we all know, there are supplies to buy, kids to calm down, and the start of an actual routine. I thought it was going okay until my son and I faced some big bumps with a family situation that is difficult and consistent so it just added to the craziness. So, right now you are thinking what does a wallet have to do with this? Well, I'm about to tell you. My brain was already on overload but then was clouded even more with an attack of severe allergies that turned into a sinus infection, so my brain was basically not functioning and I felt tired and grumpy. I decided to rest and then take a trip to my favorite Catholic bookstore. You can say this is part of my therapy and thought I would pick up some prayer cards before going to sit with the Lord in Adoration. I went to the store and felt better. As I am leaving, I decide to stop at a pet store to pick up some food for my fish that's in the same shopping center. I used a gift card so I didn't look for my wallet. I got into my car and decided to look in my purse for a tissue or something and then I noticed my wallet was not there. At that moment I dumped everything out, looked in my car and trunk, and entered into a major panic. I noticed that my phone had some missed calls with numbers I didn't recognize and a voicemail. I decided to check  and listen. Then I heard the beautiful words of a sweet older lady telling me she had found my wallet, called my insurance company, and had left it at a restaurant in that same shopping center! I sat in my car for a few minutes in awe. I had been tired, grumpy, overwhelmed, and stressed for many weeks and had forgotten to look for the good in the midst of the junk. God knew I needed a reminder, that he is there in the midst of the craziness. The wallet could have been found and not returned but instead was found by a caring lady who took time out of her Saturday to look through my wallet and try to hunt me down. I said a prayer for her that day and continue to because she was a blessing in many ways. So, now I still get grumpy and overwhelmed but then I remember the wallet and the kind lady and give my God thanks for all of it because he gives me strength and help in all things; especially when I don't just lose my wallet but lose sight of the blessings and his graces.
