Calling all the baptized: Holy Mother Church needs you.
We are at war. A war without borders. No one is exempt. A bloodless battle affects us all … Ordinary men and women have joined forces, joining with their priests and bishops and in extraordinary ways -- physically surrounding their nations in active prayer … We hear the clarion call of the Holy Spirit, through the Immaculata, and each of us sounds the reply in the face of the battle around us: I’m going in! - Fr. Richard Heilman, U.S. Rosary Coast to CoastThe battle of the October 7, 2018 United States Coast to Coast Rosary has passed but the war continues.
We are living in a time and place of intense spiritual battle, and only in taking up spiritual arms will we alleviate the spiritual disease that is at the root of so much of the physical and mental suffering in the world today. - Archbishop Cordileone of San Francisco, Oct. 7, 2017
The World TodayAs children of God and militant members of His Mystical Body, we cannot ignore the cacophony of groaning and labor pains erupting from the landscape of culture, the Church and the world today.
For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths. (2 Timothy 4: 3-4) … because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11) Ah! Those who call evil good, and good evil, who change darkness to light, and light into darkness, who change bitter to sweet, and sweet into bitter! (Isaiah 5:20) We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the Gospel and the anti-Gospel, between Christ and the antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God's plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously. It is a trial of not only our nation and the Church, but, in a sense, a test of 2,000 years of culture and Christian civilization with all of its consequences for human dignity, individual rights, human rights and the rights of nations. – Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (St. John Paul II), 41st International Eucharistic Congress, 1976
Without Vibrant Christians
We are light by which people around us come to see what is worth seeing. By the very quality and integrity of our lives, we shed light, illumining what is beautiful and revealing what is ugly. The clear implication is that without vibrant Christians the world is a much worse place. – Bishop Robert Barron I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault … - The ConfiteorWhat have I failed to do? Am I a sightseer or a pilgrim? Am I a spectator in the stands cussing out the coach or am I player on the field? Am I a pacifier or an evangelizer? Am I a transformer or am I a conformer? Am I a vibrant Christian? GK Chesterson is credited with saying that “a dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it.” Am I a dead fish just going with the flow, or am I spiritually alive and tirelessly swimming up-stream against the current of worldly culture? Have I conformed or am I being transformed and setting the world ablaze!
Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2)Remember, "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” – Edmund Burk, 18th -century statesman. Am I a good person doing nothing? Has my salt lost its flavor? Has my light gone dim?
As Christians we must love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, but as Christians we must also stand up for what we believe and always be ready to fight for the Faith. The days in which we live now require heroic Catholicism, not casual Catholicism. We can no longer be Catholics by accident, but instead be Catholics by conviction … We must be a fearless army…ready to give everything we have for the Lord, who gave everything for our salvation. –Bishop Daniel Jenky, (Peoria, Ill) April 14, 2012
Prayer and Penance
Today it is not enough for men and women to be good. Moreover, whoever is content to be nearly good is not good enough. It is necessary to be ‘revolutionary’. Faced by hedonism, faced by the pagan and materialistic wares that we are being offered, Christ wants objectors – rebels of love. – St. Josemaría Escrivá, 1902-1975Sadly, the Church is full of good-hearted accidental Catholics who are not living a life of such whole-hearted conviction that they are setting the whole world on fire. We are not what we should be. Being good-hearted isn’t good enough. Living a life of whole-hearted conviction is what makes us the salt of the earth and the light of the world. It is a life of uncompromising, shameless, and unapologetic faith that makes revolutionary Catholics and intentional disciples of Jesus.
Set yourselves apart from this corrupt generation. Be saints. You weren’t made to fit in. You were born to stand out. – Jim Caviezel
Fight Not FlightAm I a spiritual warrior or am I a spiritual prisoner of war? Do I even realize that we are in a war? What’s the condition of my personal armor? How sharp is my sword?
The Church and her faithful are under attack by a world hostile to Jesus Christ and his sacred mysteries. The times are so serious, that the spiritual sword of the rosary must find itself in the hands of new champions. - Fr. Donald Calloway, Champions of the Rosary"Family Rosary" by Eric Foss/Eric Foss Photography. All rights reserved. Used with permission.[/caption]
Am I that champion?“Friends, in light of the recent scandals, I know many people are wondering whether they should remain in the Catholic Church. And I totally get that; the outrage is warranted. But in this time of crisis, I beg you not to flee, but to fight - not violently, with the weapons of the world, but with the weapons of the Spirit. We need you.” - Bishop Robert Barron
Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother. - St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) "Don't leave the Church when things get tough, lead the Church when things get tough...be a saint...be uncompromising in pursuit of Jesus, be courageous, be faithful, become holy and lead the Church by becoming the saints that the Church needs right now. Don't leave. Lead." - Fr. Mike Schmitz Don’t run. Rise! I am Catholic because of Jesus. I stay Catholic because of Jesus. I will never leave the Catholic Church because of Judas. – John Sablan, World Ablaze “Be courageous and brave. You have nothing to fear. Fight for Your Mother, the Church. She may be wounded ... We can heal Her with our love, our compassion, and zeal." – Mother Angelica Arise soldiers of Christ, throw away the works of darkness and put on the armor of Christ. - St. CeciliaGod, please help us to love the way that YOU love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5izPEZNz1bs Music video by Tori Kelly performing Help Us To Love. © 2018 Capitol Records, LLC & Schoolboy Records
“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.” - St. Teresa of Avila
