Three weeks ago, the Church celebrated the canonization of Salvadoran martyr St. Óscar Romero. In honor of this event, Paulist Productions released a newly-remastered version of its 1989 biopic, Romero. The PG-13 movie chronicles the amazing transformation of an apolitical, complacent priest into a committed leader who starts a revolution without guns, without an army, without fear — Óscar Romero fought with the only weapon he had; the truth. In a homily the day before he was assassinated, Romero called for soldiers to end the violence in his country: “In the name of this suffering people, whose cries rise to heaven each day more tumultuous, I beseech you, I beg you, I order you, in the name of God, stop the repression.” Courtesy of Paulist Productions. Romero is available on DVD and streams free with Amazon Prime.
