Advent begins in just over two weeks, and for several months I have already been thinking about what I was going to do to enrich my own Advent experience.
One day I opened an email that invited me to review Fr. Mark Toups' new book, Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Mary, from Ascension Press. As soon as I saw the word "journal," I responded positively to the invitation. I love journals!

Fr. Toups' book is lovely to look at. (Yes, I do judge a book by its cover!) The watercolor illustrations are simple and gorgeous. The book's contents start with "how to use this journal" and then each chapter is for each of the four weeks of Advent. This is a daily journal with meditations, prayer and a place to write. There are also links in the introduction to get daily emails that include videos. This is something I'm looking forward to seeing. There's also a link for groups to share the journal together.
I love the Advent season, but to be honest, for all the wrong reasons. I love the gift planning, the shopping and all things retail. Fr. Toups' book will keep my focus in those four weeks before Christmas and prepare me well for the arrival of the gift of the person of Jesus on Christmas day.
