Linda Kracht introduces the 2023 edition of her Sunday Mass journal.

One recent Sunday, our pastor said during his homily that we can all do better: we can strive to be a better spouse, a better parent, a better employee, a better friend, a better prayer partner, a better steward of God’s creation. But to start doing things better, most of us a gentle reminder. Sometimes, we need strong reminders.

His reminder applies to the way we participate at and/or pay attention during Sunday Mass. It easy to become distracted by our wandering thoughts, worries, or eyes and concern about other people. Last Sunday was particularly difficult for me to keep reminding myself to pay attention to the Mass as we sat behind a couple and their young child. The child wasn’t the problem; it was the chatty parents who seemed preoccupied with each other.

Most of us can do better at Mass and it begins with resolving to sing, pray, listen and respond while paying better attention to the various parts of the Mass. But even when we have the best of intentions, we often forget the main points of the Sunday homily just hours afterwards. And that makes it hard to discuss it with family and friends.

Book for All Seasons-Linda Kracht

A Book for All Seasons: Journaling with Sunday Scriptures was created to change that dynamic. A Book for All Seasons contains Mass readings for each Sunday and holy day, with space for taking homily notes. The journal also allows readers to pick a virtue of the week to work on, as well as record their spiritual goals for the New Year, and more. These journals also make great gifts for teens and adults.

The 2023 Liturgical Calendar will start on the First Sunday of Advent: November, 27. 2022. Order your copy today at FortifyingFamiliesOfFaith.com so that you can do better at going to Mass each Sunday.
