An Unwanted Adventure
A Summer to Treasure by Leslea Wahl is an enjoyable Catholic teen adventure with lessons on the importance of family and good friends. Siblings Luke, Celia, and Austin are less than thrilled at the prospect of spending their summer on a road trip with their family, but their much-loved grandmother wants to relive a trip from her youth, and they fear she might be dying — so they go along with it.
Luke is going into his senior year and is sad to miss the summer with his girlfriend, Jenna, and his other friends. Celia just finished her freshman year, which was a major disappointment. She’s moody and feels like she has no friends. Austin is a preteen who just wants his older siblings to get along with each other and with him.
An Unexpected Treasure Hunt
This trip, and the unexpected treasure hunt their grandmother asks them to undertake, will challenge them and lead to new experiences. In the process, they will hear stories from their parents’ and grandmother’s past and will begin to see them in a different light.
A Summer to Treasure features adventure, a touch of young romance, educational sightseeing, sibling relationships, and some teen angst, with valuable lessons learned along the way. It makes for an enjoyable summer read for preteens, teens, and anyone who enjoys Catholic teen fiction.
A Summer to Treasure is available from Amazon.com.
