Jena Muhr shares a way to get past our tendency to dwell on all the little things that go wrong.
There are so many ups and downs during the days and years that it is easy to get stuck thinking about all the little things that weigh us down or stress us out. When I think of these things I like to remind myself that “this, too, shall pass.” I thought this would be a beneficial exercise to share with others.
Getting angry at the kids …. This, too, shall pass.
A fight with a spouse …. This, too, shall pass.
Getting cut off in traffic …. This, too, shall pass.
Running out of milk …. This, too, shall pass.
Child losing sweatshirt (again) …. This, too, shall pass.
Forgetting to return library books …. This, too, shall pass.
Kids fighting …. This, too, shall pass.
Forgetting to run the dishwasher at night …. This, too, shall pass.
Child waking up at night …. This, too, shall pass.
Burning dinner …. This, too, shall pass.
Kids not eating dinner …. This, too, shall pass.
Forgetting to pay a bill …. This, too, shall pass.
Getting sick …. This, too, shall pass.
Child wetting the bed …. This, too, shall pass.
Child getting sick …. This, too, shall pass.
Kids making a mess …. This, too, shall pass.
Losing your favorite lipstick …. This, too, shall pass.
And on and on they go. We are humans, blessed to have God with us each and every day to guide and strengthen. Through His love we are able to move through trials and tribulations with peace.
