Called by Name Devotional and Journal

Allison Gingras shares her latest project with WINE: Women In the New Evangelization — an amazing daily devotional for women and companion journal.

From a young age I knew I wanted to be a writer, although, when I enrolled in college as an English major, I was convinced I’d be the next Great American novelist. It does appear, from my experience anyway, that you have to enjoy reading fiction to be any good at writing it. Fast forward 30 years, I find myself drawn to Catholic non-fiction, I gobble it up as if it's cookies I’m trying to eat before my kids notice the new batch is cooling. I am intrigued by the Holy Spirit, the Scriptures, and the blessing and graces that come from allowing Jesus into my life.

This summer, through my work with WINE: Women In the New Evangelization, I was blessed not only to experience the thrill of being a contributing author but also the incredible satisfaction of being an editor. As we (joyfully) plodded through over 600 entries filled with thousands of words, my heart overflowed with joy at seeing this dream fulfilled. I couldn’t help of think of one of my favorite Scripture verses, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4), and in my work on Called By Name: 365 Daily Devotions for Catholic Women — He surely has!
