Heather Johnson shares her family's customary meals and activities for Christmas and Christmas Eve.
What do you and your family like to do on Christmas Eve and Christmas?
Once you get married, traditions change. We kept some traditions from my childhood and some from my husband's and added some new ones for our family.
Here are some of ours:
- Baking a birthday cake for Jesus
- Eating Chinese food on Christmas Eve
- Placing the baby Jesus figure in the Nativity set on Christmas morning
- Singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus
- Hiding a pickle ornament in the Christmas tree and letting the children hunt for it -- the first child to find the pickle gets to open the first present
- Christmas brunch (using a make-ahead recipe)
