Anne DeSantis outlines three ways even very busy moms can deepen their faith.

It is worthwhile for Catholic mothers who truly care about our faith to strive to take their faith to the next level. For moms, life can become busy to a point of not always making enough time for prayer and to attempt to grow closer to Jesus. Here are a few ways to help to carve out the time to bring your faith to the next level.

Schedule prayer time

Prayer is the most important activity we can do as Catholics and as people of faith. When your life is busy with kids, schedules, and to-do lists, it is important to also schedule prayer time. This does not have to be something long or burdensome to the schedule, but taking the time out of your day to pray can help you to bring your faith to that next level.

For many people, morning prayer time is a way to begin the day and to commit the day to the Lord. Whether this involves attending daily Mass on a weekday, praying the Rosary, or doing something else, our prayer time with God is extremely valuable. Remember that prayer can also be spontaneous. Aspirations throughout the day to the Lord and thoughts in His direction are prayer, whether scheduled or not. Keep the prayers going every day!

Seek to learn more about your faith

Some people learn best by reading. Others learn by observation, such as watching videos or even listening to podcasts. There are also those who learn by asking questions and are more tactile learners. Commit yourself to learning more about the Catholic Church each day in whatever way works best for you.

In addition, foster learning the faith with your children and with your whole family. Learning the faith can be a family activity just like anything else. Don’t forget to add fun by eating snacks and inviting others while reading or watching videos together. This will help your faith and your family’s faith too!

Be a person of love and care for those less fortunate

We can never forget that being Catholic also means being a “good person.” Those words are not always understood by serious-minded Catholics, as some feel they indicate those who only do good works but do not care about the teachings of the Church or the sacramental life. In a very basic way, it is through both knowing about the faith and practicing it that we are fully part of the mission of the Church. So being good and caring about others and about the needs of the poor is all our job.

We ARE called to be good, holy, and sacrificial. We can’t just be “book smart,” though; we need to put our faith to work by caring for others. This is a way for us to bring our faith soaring to the next level. There are people all around us who need to know that not only does God love them, but so do you.
