If you're concerned about missing your devotional time after enjoying one of the many daily resources offered for the season of Lent, Laura Kelly Fanucci has the answer with her new book from Ave Maria Press. Living Easter: 50 Days to Practice Resurrection is a colorful hardcover volume offering reflections, prayers and calls to action to help you savor the most joyful liturgical season.

What's In This Book

Living Easter is divided by week, following the liturgical year from Easter Sunday through Pentecost. Each week includes seven daily entries with readings from the Gospels or Acts of the Apostles, reflections on Scripture, and simple actions to celebrate Easter. In addition, there are weekly essays inviting the reader to go deeper into the stories of key figures in the Easter narratives.

How might God be calling you to live out Easter, not just with today's feasting, but for 50 full days of this joyful season? (2)

I was impressed by the colorful presentation and gentle catechesis that's provided throughout. This is definitely a devotional, not a textbook, but there are plenty of opportunities to learn as you feed your soul.

My favorite essay was the one on Saint Thomas; I have a soft spot for him and relate to his need to "touch the truth" (38). Like Thomas, sometimes I need to be reminded to "see with eyes of faith" (41).

This is a book you can pick up at any time of day. If you happen to miss a day (or even a week), just turn to the page for the correct calendar day; these reflections are not cumulative and there's no final exam. In addition, this book can be used in any liturgical year.

Finally, a devotional that encourages Catholics to celebrate the joy of Easter!
