Elizabeth Estrada ponders the signal graces in her life that she can attribute to praying a daily Rosary.

In the last couple of weeks, I have been listening to Fr. Edward Looney’s podcast, How They Love Mary. I first heard Fr. Looney on the Morning Glory show. I always admired his love and devotion to Mother Mary and own some of his books.

When I discovered his podcast, I decided to start from the beginning (can you tell I’m type A)? One of his guests, Friar Nick Rokitka, OFM Conv., mentioned “Mary Signals” or "signal graces." I was completely captivated and intrigued, especially because I have had a devotion to Mother Mary ever since I can remember.

Friar Nick described “Mary Signals” as graces from Mother Mary due to praying the Rosary daily for years. As I listened to him describe a variety of signals such as getting invited on pilgrimage but not being able to go, being disappointed, and then being able to go because the event he had to attend was canceled! Can you guess where he was going on pilgrimage? He was going to Mexico City to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe! Amazing.

Of course, Friar Nick shared a few more and others that people had shared with him. I began to ponder my “Mary Signals” and there are quite a few -- one particularly that completely changed my life and the course that it was going to take. I attribute the courage and clarity I discovered due to praying the Rosary daily for almost a year. I kept thinking of all her graces and I am still remembering many more.

Be more attentive to these gifts that Mary provides for us because of her Son. #catholicmom

I invite you to sit with and pray about your “Mary Signals.” Perhaps we will both be more attentive to these gifts that Mary provides for us because of her Son. Maybe you are thinking that you haven’t prayed the Rosary for a long time and perhaps this is the time that she is calling you to hold her hand and ponder the life of her Son by praying it maybe not daily but as you can.

I am certain that Mary would want you to pray and ponder the life of her Son, so that you and I can be guided by them both. Perhaps she’s telling us as she told those at the Wedding of Cana, “Do whatever he tells you.”

I would love to hear about your “Mary Signals” or your experience with the Rosary.
