Tiffany Walsh shares a recipe for Crab Melts, a great addition to a light meatless meal of small bites. Print our free recipe card!
These cheesy bread melts are a favorite from my husband’s family New Year’s Eve celebrations during his childhood, but we enjoy them year-round when we want a lighter, meatless meal. These pair nicely with other appetizers for a meal with a variety of smaller bites to choose from. We often make them with sides of cooked shrimp with cocktail sauce, a sampling of cheeses, and gourmet olives!
Crab Melts
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 8 oz package shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 6-oz can flaked crabmeat
- 1 oz pimento (optional)
- 1 loaf baked French bread
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Melt butter and cheese over low heat, stirring constantly. Add lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix well. Stir until smooth. Add crabmeat (and pimento, if using) and stir until well combined.
Slice the bread and arrange on a baking sheet. Spread the cheese mixture onto the bread slices and bake for 15 minutes or until topping is bubbly.
