Join us as we pray the Rosary this month for pregnant mothers. Today, Caroline Godin ponders the Fifth Glorious Mystery.

The writers of Catholic Mom enthusiastically gathered to share meditations on each Mystery of the Rosary in a special way for pregnant mothers. We invite you to join us throughout the month of May as we pray together each day, and to share these reflections with other moms who will enjoy them.

Today we will pray the Fifth Glorious Mystery: The Coronation of Mary.

Long ago, it was the mother of the king, not his wife, who took the role of queen. A king may have had many wives, so his heir would be brought up by his mother. This meant the mother had the most influence on her son and, therefore, the most honor from him.

We know that Jesus loves His mother as your child will love you. Mary said “yes” to the Lord from Gabriel’s visit. She bore Him through a journey to Bethlehem, carried Him to Egypt, raised Him humbly, saw to His education (along with Joseph), and remained faithful all the while. She even bore the most painful part of His life, His purpose, His crucifixion, by remaining by the Cross. You have said yes to the Lord for your child and are just about to embark on the most wonderful part of life: motherhood. You are your child’s household queen!

A queen is to be an example to her people, a support to her king, and a mother to all in her kingdom. Mary exceeds all this. She is the perfect Mother, as the Father would design no less for His Son. Her patience, kindness, and faithfulness show us the example we should set as mothers. Now is the time to pray for the kind of example you will set for your child, and Mary will help you along the way!

A queen cares for her children and Mary cares for each of us. She doesn’t claim renown for herself. Rather, she is always pointing the way to her Son. She is pleading for souls to stop sinning and turn to her Son. You care for your child by caring for yourself. Lean on Mary to help care for you as you care for your child.

Just as Mary received her crown, marking her Queenship, so you are now queen of your own household. You have a child who loves you, a blessed child to raise and teach, and a Queen Mother full of Grace to guide you.

This May, pray a #Rosary for pregnant mothers with us! #CatholicMom
