Ellen Mongan shares what sister relationships should be by interviewing Catholic Mom contributing writers and sisters Shelly Henley Kelly and Lisa Henley Jones.
What Is a Sister to You?
Close your eyes for a minute and picture your sister or sisters. What came to mind? Was it a favorite memory, an unhealed hurt, or a word of wisdom? They say you cannot choose your family, but you can choose your friends. Many of you may feel that way.
Meet the Henley Sisters!
Some sisters, however, are given the grace to become lifelong friends. I was so blessed to get to know two sisters who fit that description, Shelly Henley Kelly and Lisa Henley Jones. They are two of the most delightful people I have had on my podcast, Go Tell the World. They are both contributing writers to Catholic Mom who are sisters, friends, and, best of all, they are on a journey together toward God. They sound alike, they look alike; they are both married, have children, and love big! As you get to know them, you will see their uniqueness and beauty shine. They are fearfully and wonderfully made for a purpose: to tell the world about Jesus and show the world that sisters can be friends forever.
Their witness shines through their podcasts at Of Sound Mind and Spirit, their articles on CatholicMom.com, and their daily lives. Listen in and learn the “who, what, where, and why” of their ministry! What do they do? Where are they going? Why do they do what they do? They are still learning and growing in Christ and invite you to join them on their journey. They will tell you how getting to know Jesus and doing what He called them to do changed everything. Jesus will do the same for you.

Who Is Lisa Henley Jones?
Lisa Henley Jones is a wife, mom, and native Texan. She experienced a renewed interest in her faith after searching “Catholic Mom” on the internet when she had little bitty kids. This led to her discovering CatholicMom.com, various Catholic Podcasts, and an encouraging online Catholic community. Since then, she’s taught elementary faith formation, run Vacation Bible School, and directed Catholic women’s retreats at her parish, in addition to working as a parish communications director.
Lisa enjoys reading, walking, going on date nights, and wearing the college colors of her young adult kids. Lisa's family recently hosted a foreign exchange student from Spain. She’s a former family lawyer. She watches way too much HGTV and Hallmark Channel. She and her husband met at a sorority/fraternity mixer in college. Lisa’s ponderings can also be found on the fan podcast, The Secrets of Stargate, at Catholic Mom, Joe Paprocki’s Catechist’s Journey, and on The Secrets of Once Upon a Time podcast at SQPN.
