Gilda Rose Kalathil reviews a new picture book from Ascension Press that tells the story of Jesus' triumphant entry to Jerusalem through the eyes of a donkey.

The Little Donkey and God’s Big Plan by Izabela Ciesinska is a lovely picture book for small kids.

Animal stories are so appealing to children, and this one is connected to the story of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Following the little donkey’s journey of from being tied to a fence, questioning his purpose and finding in the most unexpected ways, this story will surely touch a young child’s heart while learning important Biblical lessons of trusting in the Lord, preparing and holding on to hope.

The illustrations in The Little Donkey and God’s Big Plan were created by Izabela Ciesinska herself. Vibrant and expressive, they are true to the imagery the author had in mind and capable of enticing little ones to ask for more.

Read aloud to kids or read by beginner readers, the story keeps interest till the end. Eager to know the ending it is definitely hard to stop in between if you have little ears listening. It also reinforces the fact that no life is too little before the Lord.
