Imagine catechizing the whole family in the same readable, easy-to-understand style that millions of people treasure about Little Books. This is the perfect time to introduce our youngsters to the need to spend some quiet time with the Lord. The Little Kids' Book on the Eucharist can be the building block to a lifelong habit of prayer and contemplation. (from the Publisher)

Jesus is present in the Eucharist: Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. I know some adult Catholics who don’t comprehend the importance of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. How can children and adults better understand this mystery?

This is a wonderful book that seeks to help children understand the importance of the Holy Eucharist. Although it’s not necessarily designed to prepare children for Holy Communion, it is an excellent way to instill a love of Jesus in the Eucharist for anyone, not just children. Teaching is learning twice, so any adult or older child would also benefit from reading this book to a younger child.

Pertinent Reflections for the Holy Eucharist

Each reflection day starts with a short description, a simple, cute illustration, and either one or two activities. Day One is titled, “Holy Communion is a Great Gift from Jesus.” Other chapters/reflections include “How the Eucharist Began,” “Jesus Makes All Things Possible.” There are also chapters about specific saints who had a devotion to the Eucharist, including Saint Tarcisius, Saint Carlo Acutis, and Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Helpful Activities for Children to Learn

As the grandparent of a 7-year-old, I can appreciate the fun and helpful activities in the book that will help the young reader comprehend and appreciate the importance of the Holy Eucharist. I intend to share this book with my son and daughter-in-law to assist their son as he prepares to receive the Eucharist next year.

Among the activities are drawing, coloring pages, praying, crossword puzzles, asking older relatives about their First Communion, and answering true-or-false statements. These activities are well-suited to children ages 6-9, although anyone can read this little book and learn something.

An Excellent Book

While there are many books that explain the Eucharist to children, this excellent book hits the nail on the head with easy-to-read information, activities, and illustrations that keep the child (and adults) interested in learning.

I highly recommend this beautiful little book.
