Amanda Lawrence shares five reasons she loves the Rosary.
October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, a gift given to us by the Virgin Mary, the most perfect spouse of the Holy Spirit. Because she is the source of this spiritual inspiration, we reserve October 7th for the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. As Catholics, we celebrate all month because one day just isn’t enough!
The Rosary is awesome, and there are many arguments for its reverence.
In celebration of Mary, here are five reasons I love the Rosary.
The Rosary protects against diabolical attacks.
Every person, even the most holy among us, is susceptible to spiritual attacks. We all face preternatural temptation and ordinary struggle, but these battles allow God the space to strengthen and prepare us for the future.
The Rosary is a powerful weapon against the profane attacks we face, and it grants us new graces every time we pick it up to pray. Why is it so potent? Because it’s a tool that gives us direct access to the power of Jesus Christ.
Next time you’re experiencing spiritual warfare, reach for your rosary!
The Rosary helps us accomplish God’s will for our lives.
We can’t do what God wants if we’re too busy doing what we want. When we pray the Rosary, we allow it to break our will, fifty-nine beads at a time. Nurturing a daily Rosary habit helps us learn patience, become more disciplined, and deny our flesh to better focus on God.
The Rosary strengthens our focus on Jesus.
Every moment of our lives is in equal focus in the Lord’s eyes. He holds the entirety of our existence in His gaze; shouldn’t we strive to do the same? Too often, we allow worldly distractions to delay what Jesus wants.
Sitting in quiet contemplation is sometimes the best way to hear God’s voice. Praying and meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary lets us listen to what God wants. The more we pray, the more familiar we become with His voice, graces, and will for our lives.
Meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary aids us in our quest for sainthood.
To become a saint, we must unite our will with God’s will and receive His sanctifying grace. When we pray the Rosary, Mary ensures we’re the recipient of God’s infinite graces, strengthening our path to sainthood. How great is that?
The Rosary supports family salvation.
The Rosary doesn’t just help the person praying. Its reach extends much further.
When we pick up the Rosary, we spend time with God’s mother. We’re giving her access to our life, problems, and family. Uniting ourselves with Mary makes our family her family, too. And everyone in Mary’s family is in heaven! If you’re seeking a deeper, more profound conversion for those around you, the Rosary can help.
Grab your rosary, future saints, and have a blessed October growing closer to Mary and her Son, Jesus! I’m praying for your continued success!
