Today's Gospel: John 21:20-25 In this passage, I see two powerful reminders for us in how we live our lives. First, we see Jesus reminding us to “mind our own business, because we have our own business to mind.” It is so easy to fall into the comparison trap or wonder what God has in mind for someone else. We would all be better served if we focused on our own eternal destinies instead of worrying about those of others. Following Jesus into His eternal glory is a full-time job. When we do it right, we don’t have time to get distracted by God’s plan for someone else. Secondly, we are reminded that there is so much more to know about Jesus. If the Earth could not contain all the books detailing the things He did, how much more so can our limited minds not know God completely in this life. There will always be something new to learn, and always more opportunities to get closer to Him. John ends his gospel by reminding us that there is no end to the Gospel, the Good News, of Christ!

Ponder:

What is one thing you can do to know God better?

Pray:

Lord, help me to avoid any distractions that might keep me from following You more closely or knowing You more fully.
